While creating awareness in the Chunabhatti slums on maternal and infant health, our foundation has helped Roopa and many of the inhabitants save their children by building their immunity, decreasing risk of infection through sanitation measures and helping pregnant women increase their nutrition and cleanliness so that they can have healthier children.
Across the slums, we implement many such projects. However, we need funding. If you want to save infants from death, from even simple diarrhoea or malnutrition, you can make a difference. India has the largest number of infant deaths globally. This is due to poor nutrition during pregnancy and lack of awareness on feeding habits as well as sanitation issues that trigger diseases in children under 5. Our programs, especially in slums and underprivileged areas, create awareness on maternal and infant nutrition, sanitation and hygiene habits that can reduce risk of infections and diseases for infants to increase survival rates and distribute supplements. We help improve hygiene with slum cleanups and support communities. This reduces death rates and in improves maternal and infant health.
