Projects

When we begin with Kindness , the Universe helps us help others. We focus on projects that align with the 17 goals of United Nations sustainable development goals (SDG). For unless there is sustainability in human health and the planet, neither will flourish.

Our projects include:

I. REDUCING BURDEN OF NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASES VIA SUSTAINABLE NUTRITION AND LIVING:

Cancer Prevention, Early Diagnostics and Awareness for the Underprivileged:
Funded by Tourism Finance Corporation India. Aligns with Goal 3 of UNSGD.

  • In 2020, India had 1.38 million new cancer cases, which is 7.5% of the world’s new cancer cases. In 2040, India’s cancer cases are projected to increase by 57.5%.
  • India is the third largest country in terms of the number of cancer cases after China and the United States of America. In terms of cancer-related deaths, India ranks second after China.
  • In 2020, India had 1.38 million new cancer cases, which is 7.5% of the world’s new cancer cases. In 2040, India’s cancer cases are projected to increase by 57.5%.

At this time, prevention, awareness and early diagnostics can save lives. With this data as a background, the Arrest Cancer Project was awarded to the Kindness to conduct 5 cancer awareness, prevention and early diagnostics camps across the country. Kindness, in partnership with registered Trust USEA, conducted these camps for cancer prevention and early diagnostics for detection. We partnered with Healthians for diagnostics.

Cancer Conference in Partnership with SL Raheja Hospital
Part funded by Rotary Club Bombay Bandra (RCBB). Aligns with Goal 3 of UNSGD.

Oncologists, surgeons and cancel experts came together to create awareness about preventing and treating cancer. What is that is diagnosis, patients and families are scared of the unknown. However, with the right information dissemination, this fear can be reduced and treatment can be enhanced to increase survival rates for cancer patients. Dr Prasad Kasbekar, surgical oncologist, Dr Bharat Bhosale, senior oncologist, Dr Rachna Chhachhi, integrative cancer expert and Dr Reiyal Goveas, reconstructive surgeon helped the audience understand the various stages of healing cancer and how it is not just limited to getting surgery and chemotherapy done. The summit had two breast cancer warriors as speakers, both of them have had successful outcomes. Roma Kulkarni was just 29 years old when she was struck with breast cancer. Dr Milu Acharya, a mathematics professor who joined online from Bhubaneswar, was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 53. From the moment she received the diagnosis, she began with both treatments together – conventional medical treatment as well as nutrition and mental health therapy. Within a few months she was feeling very few side-effects of chemotherapy and even her doctors noticed her higher energy in comparison to other patients. The summit was attended by cancer patients, cancer associations, people who wanted to know how to prevent and heal from cancer. Many people joined from across the country via zoom to listen to the experts and patients. In totality, over 200 people attended in person and via zoom and the event was broadcast to 600,000 people across the country to create awareness about cancer.

The Armed Forces, whether it is the Army, Navy, Air Force or CISF, or always in stressful environment and under continued alertness pressure. At a time like this, the mind and body get into chronic stress. The team at Kindness understands this and does periodic camps for the armed forces so that methods of stress release can be shared along with nutrition to enhance immunity.

Camps conducted in 2024-25 include:

• Indian Army Camp at Pune

• CISF Camp for Airport Security staff

• CISF Camp for Delhi Unit

• Upcoming camp for Naval base in June 2025

II. REDUCING BURDEN OF MENTAL HEALTH DISTRESS FOR NEURODIVERGENT CHILDREN, ADULTS AND PARENTS VIA SUSTAINABLE NUTRITION THERAPY:

A child diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder needs support, therapy and special care. But often, we forget that the parent is operating on empty fuel. They want the best for their child, and if they’re healthy and able, their ability to create a loving and nurturing environment for the child will increase.

We are grateful to partner with TATA Power‘s Pay Autention program, India’s first “phygital” (physical + digital) autism support network. Pay Autention & E-Sanidhya Platform was co-created by Tata Power Community Development Trust . (TPCDT) and National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID). It brings together caregivers, parents, educators, healthcare workers, therapists, and community volunteers to bridge gaps in awareness, screening, early intervention, specialist care — especially in underserved areas where services are limited.

Our foundation organises workshops under this aegis, to conduct a deep and meaningful sessions for parents of children with autism across schools and with therapy centres.

Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are special. But so are the parents who support them in this journey. Our workshop helped support the parents to be healthy, with a calmer CNS, and hence enable their child to feel safe and calm. Some glimpses below.

III. RESEARCH AND AWARENESS ON HUMAN & PLANET HEALTH CONNECTION

Science backed information dissemination on mental health, nutrition and sustainability via our digital platform, Unhurry®. Funded in house. Aligns with Goal 17 of UNSGD.

As per the United Nations 2023 report, two in three people use the internet. The Internet then becomes the strongest tool to create awareness about the pillars of the foundation – method, nutrition and sustainability, in alignment with the UNSDG goals. Since February 2021, Unhurry® has been publishing science backed articles every day to help disseminate the right information about how mental health, nutrition and sustainable initiatives can help us individually.

From mental health of teenagers connected to yoga in schools, creating nature parks within cities to increase oxygen, specific nutrients providing support for mental health, Women in the workplace demonstrating higher profitability for organisations, Unhurry® has been tirelessly publishing data points every single day. Through Unhurry®, It becomes our duty to understand that what we need to do in our daily lives for self-care, and caring for the planet, is actually simple and is backed by science. Unhurry® becomes the pillar for SDG 17 as it creates the need for collaboration and partnerships to raise awareness, share best practices, and mobilize resources to implement the SDGs effectively. Organisations that have utilised the Unhurry® platform, have seen increased awareness in employees about mental health, nutrition and sustainability.

IV. COMMUNITY UPLIFTMENT

Kindness Sustainability Leaders:

Association for Women in Healthcare (AWH™️) supports, uplifts and mentors women who are committed to One Health for planet and human health, to become Kindness Sustainability Leaders. We guide, train and mentor women who understand the deep connect and interdependence between people and the natural world. Unlike traditional, unidimensional approaches, our association addresses the intertwined crises of human well-being, ecological degradation, rise in noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and mental health distress, as a single, unified challenge. Members create awareness about human and planet health connects. We have doctors, sustainability, experts, therapists, women in the corporate sector in leadership position, who are already part of the association. We train women, leaders and those who support women leaders in human and planet health in sustainable nutrition and sustainable living to create Kindness Sustainability Leaders who spread the science backed information on reducing risk of diseases and help with human and planet health via One Health for humans, planet and animals. This Association is a community of Kindness Sustainability Leaders to reduce noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and mental health distress via understanding sustainable nutrition and sustainable living focus. In 2026, our goal is to train 500 Kindness Sustainability Leaders in the top five cities in India. 2. NGOs Partnerships for Sustainability Education: We do training programs with large NGOs who are focused on reducing NCDs, supporting sustainable agriculture and increasing thrift by giving to displaced populations, to create Kindness Sustainability Leaders. Our training programs are developed by sustainable nutrition, farming and environment experts to complete the cycle of lower pressure on earth, healthier produce to reduce NCDs burden via sustainable farming and plant based nutrition, which helps both human and planet health.
  3. Global partnership for sustainable development goals via The Restore Awards®: Aligns with Goal 17 of UNSGD. The Restore Awards® were instituted in 2019. They are focused on global partnerships with for-profit and non-profit organisations, individuals and communities tirelessly working at the grassroots level to impact  sustainable development for all. The Restore Awards® align with Goal 17 of UNSGD. Today, in the 7th year, our foundation’s focus is to bring together organisations and individuals who are earth champions, nutrition champions, mental health champions and celebrate their work as well as collaborate with them so that we can together, achieve more. We help and train them to become Kindness Sustainability Leaders. There are so many grassroots champions who are so busy doing impactful work that their work goes unnoticed. When we put them on the platform of The Restore Awards®, other people/organisations doing complementary work can reach out to them and the awards have proven to be a catalyst in creating a ripple effect for global partnerships for sustainable development goals.

In 2019, the awards were inaugurated by Mr Harsh Mariwala, Chairman, Marico. In 2020, they were chaired by Mr Sanjiv Puri, Chairman, ITC. In 2021, we had Mr Anshu Gupta, Goonj and Dr Tarun Madan, ICMR gracing the awards. In 2022, filmmaker Prakash Jha lent his voice and support to this cause and in 2023, UNAIDS country head, Mr David Bridges was our chief guest. Every year, we have had support from kindness ambassadors across the world who stand with us to help us create awareness about the good work being done by grassroots champions.
